Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing action and mayhem with similar glee, all while telling gripping, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of society through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our shared irreverent, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
