Members of an Italian family of thieves who stole over £1.2 million worth of goods, among them from ex- NUFC striker Isak, have been ordered to pay back just £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their female sibling Jela and her child Charlie travelled to the northeastern of England to raid multiple homes in spring 2024.

The group of four were jailed for from a decade or less in 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at the court, Jela Jovanovic and the Nikolov brothers were ordered to repay £1 per person while Charlie Jovanovic must hand over over a thousand pounds.

Particulars of the Break-ins

The court previously heard the group arrived by ferry in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2024 and employed a campervan as their "headquarters", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham service stations while utilizing another car to search for targets and carry out burglaries.

On 31 March they stole more than one million pounds of goods including designer clothing, purses, jewelry and a CBE medal from a house on a street in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were on holiday.

The next evening, the crew entered a house on a private road in Whitburn, South Tyneside, and stole luxury bags, jewellery and footwear valued at over £100,000.

After scouting out the football club's training ground for two days, they then acted at the home of Swedish player Alexander Isak in Darras Hall, Ponteland on April 4, stealing ten thousand pounds in money, sixty-eight thousand pounds valued of jewelry and the player's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The gang, who were portrayed by prosecutors as professional touring thieves, wore gloves and masks, switched their phones off as they neared their targets and attached a number plate, which had been taken from a garage in a town, on to their car with elastic bands.

They were arrested in the Birmingham area on April 13.

Court Hearings and Sentencing

Valentino had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to burglary but was found guilty by the court, while his family members had all submitted guilty pleas to the same charge.

At the criminal gains hearing, prosecutor the prosecution said each of the defendants had benefited from their offenses to the amount of £1,266,285.93, which was based on what the victims said they had had stolen.

But Charlie was the sole individual deemed to have any funds that could be "realised", specifically £1,135.50 which had previously been confiscated by police, the court was informed, with two weeks to be served in jail if he defaulted.

The remaining members had no money or assets so were ordered to make a token amount of £1 each, with seven days in incarceration the result if the money was not paid.

Judge Spragg said if they were discovered with assets in the future, "for example operating Italy in a sports car or owning a home", the prosecution could initiate new proceedings to "recover the sum outstanding".
